How to Change Adobe Illustrator to CMYK

Adobe Illustrator is a powerful tool for creating digital artwork, but if you’re working on a project that will be printed, it’s important to ensure your colors are set to CMYK mode. This is because CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Key/Black) is the color model used in printing, while RGB (Red, Green, Blue) is used for digital screens.

Follow these simple steps to change Adobe Illustrator to CMYK:

  1. Open your Illustrator file or create a new document.
  2. Go to ‘File’ in the top menu, then select ‘Document Color Mode’.
  3. Choose ‘CMYK Color’ from the dropdown menu.
  4. Click ‘OK’ to confirm the color mode change.

Once you’ve made this change, your document will now be set to CMYK color mode, ensuring that the colors you see on your screen are optimized for print. Remember to also adjust your color swatches and ensure any linked images are also in CMYK mode for consistent printing results.
